August 24, 2026: during the closing session of the Generation Next Summer School in Dresden, Germany, in the iconic Frauenkirchen a ceremony took place recognizing key Roots Ecosystem partners who have championed youth leadership, intercultural dialogue and peacebuilding. The prestigious Roots Peace Medals were officially awarded to Andreas Dietrich, Lead of Peacwork Frauenkirche Foundation and Hansjorg Kopp, Secretary General of YMCA Germany.
The Roots Peace Medal stands as a testament to individuals who move peacebuilding from just a noble concept into an actual practice. Both of the awarded play a crucial role in creating a supportive and transformative environment for our participants and young people from all over the world.

Andreas Dietrich (Frauenkirche Foundation Representative): Honored for bringing the historic legacy of the Frauenkirche a global symbol of reconciliation, memory and renewal into direct engagement with the next generation of our peacemakers.

Hansjorg Kopp (Secretary General, YMCA Germany): Recognized for his commitment to empowering young leaders and integrating peace action into youth movements across Europe. Under his leadership, YMCA Germany continues to be a strong pillar for cross-border collaboration.
This recognition reflects far more than gratitude for a single event. We deeply appreciate these meaningful partnerships and the shared values that make programs like Generation Next possible.
We extend our heartiest congratulations and deepest thanks to Hansjorg Kopp and Andreas Dietrich and are looking forward to deepening this collaboration and continuing to create impactful opportunities together for many years to come.
